On a bright sunny day, a large group of Cape Cod Tufts Club Alumni and their guests visited the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Buzzards Bay and were hosted by a group of poised, knowledgeable, young cadets, both men and women. Situated at the mouth of the Cape Cod Canal, guests were treated to a luncheon in the Cadet Panda Dining Hall followed by a tour of the Academy Library which houses the school’s shipboard simulator. Then it was off to tour the USTS Kennedy training ship. By 2026 the Academy will receive a new $300 million training ship and the cadet ranks will grow from 1,600 to 2,250 (20% will be women).
