Sunday, June 26th 11:30am – 2:30pm
at the Doubletree Hilton in Hyannis
Why did Russia invade Ukraine on February 24, 2022? The answer to the question is complex and multidimensional. The military campaign in Ukraine, which has gone badly for Russia, cannot be explained merely by the miscalculations of Russian President Vladimir Putin. It is essential to explore the historical, geopolitical, as well as Russian and Ukrainian domestic political trends that led up to the war. The lecture will assess the fraught history of Russia-Ukraine relations, the security dilemma between Russia and NATO, the pro-Western drift of Ukraine, the rise of a personalistic autocracy in Russia, and the failure of diplomacy between Russia and the West.
On Sunday, June 26, the Cape Cod Tufts Club invites alumni, parents, friends of Tufts and members of the Intercollegiate Alumni of Cape Cod and Islands to first in-person event in more than two years!
