CCTC visits “The Greenhouse”– A Breathtaking Exhibit by Tufts Professor Edward Murrow at the Cahoon Museum of American Art

On  August 13, 2021 Tufts alumni and friends enjoyed a private tour of “The Greenhouse”, the new exhibit at the Cahoon Museum of American Art in Cotuit featuring a massive site-specific installation produced by contemporary artist Ethan Murrow and three artist assistants. Murrow is Professor of the Practice in painting and drawing at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University in Boston.

Murrow’s latest installation is a panoramic wall drawing inspired by old growth forests that once existed on Cape Cod. It honors the central importance of the natural environment to Cape Cod and encourages discussion, and optimism, about how human beings can preserve and restore natural habitats and coexist in balance with nature.

Leading our guided tour was the new Education and Programs Manager at the Cahoon Museum of American Art, Michael McMahon, who is a graduate of the Masters in Fine Arts, Interdisciplinary Studies at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA / Tufts University and a member of the Painting faculty on both the Medford and Boston campuses.
