Don’t Miss Our Annual Winter Brunch!

Join with fellow alumni, friends and family on Sunday, January 22 from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM at the Dan’l Webster Inn in Sandwich for a deep dive into the past, present and future of the Cape Cod National Seashore with Bill Burke, the Seashore’s cultural resources program manager. In his talk Bill will discuss how in the depths of the Great Depression, the National Park Service first floated the concept of a national seashore for the wild, undeveloped lands of Cape Cod’s “Great Beach.”

Bill Burke, National SeashoreEstablished in 1961 by President Kennedy, the Seashore’s 43,000 acres has been a resounding success, hosting over 4 million visitors annually.  But the past 60 years have been far from perfect. Bill will also touch on the philosophy behind new parks, the master plan for the Seashore, growing pains, big compromises, lingering controversies, successes and failures, and what the future might hold.

Your ticket, which is $35 per person, will include a delicious brunch that includes field greens salad with freshly baked rolls and a buffet of oven-roasted chicken tenders and mushrooms served with a red wine, sherry marsala sauce, Carciofi – artichoke hearts, mushrooms and roasted tomatoes in an artichoke cream sauce and freshly caught broiled haddock. Potato and seasonal vegetables will accompany the meal. The meal will conclude with homemade apple cranberry crisp with whipped cream and coffee, decaf coffee and assorted teas.
